adidas and the Argentinian Football Federation have released a special edition kit and collection to mark 50 years since they first worked together in 1974. The kit should be worn for the first time in the game against Peru on November 20.
The first kit that Argentina had was made by adidas 50 years ago. Over the next fifty years, they had an on-and-off connection, with only a few breaks for Uribarri, Le Coq Sportif in the 1980s, and Reebok around the year 2000. They’ve had a good relationship for a long time, and they’ve helped the country win two of its three World Cups. Adidas has also made a special edition kit and collection to mark the 50th occasion.
The design is based on the Albiceleste’s 1974 kit, which has the standard Ambient Sky and Cloud White stripes that make the shirt stand out. On the chest, there is a Trefoil badge and a simple Argentina crest from the mid-1970s. Both are in gold to honor the team’s accomplishments over the years.
On the inside of the collar, there is a unique design with the words “En el alma y en la piel” (In the soul and on the skin) and a laurel wreath. There are three stars below, which stand for the three World Cup wins, and the words “50 ANOS” above, which refers to the 50 years of partnership.
