Barca are keen on signing 17-year-old Antonio Cordero after his impressive displays for Malaga in the Spanish second division.

According to Relevo, Barcelona are chasing Malaga’s 17-year-old Antonio Cordero, better known as Antonito.

Barca are offering a clear pathway to the first team if Antonito agrees to join the B team. Barca are currently lacking depth at left-back, with Ansu Fati out of form and fitness. Los Blaugrana believe Antonito would be a smart addition.

Antonito is a regular starter for Spain’s U19 side. He has been a revelation in the Spanish second division, scoring three goals and assisting three in 660 minutes of action in 12 games.

Antonito’s contract with Malaga expires next summer. The 17-year-old is aware of Barca’s interest. The Spanish giants are also increasingly determined to sign Antonito.

Antonito’s agent Pini Zahavi has a very close relationship with Barca. So this is an advantage for Barca in this deal.

Of course, Malaga do not want to lose their top star. They are also trying to tie Antonito down. The reason Malaga gives is that they can give Antonito the opportunity to hone his skills in a more competitive league than Barca B’s Spanish third division.

Malaga’s sporting director Loren Juarros shared in September: “I still have the feeling that we can reach an agreement. We will try to keep Antonito here, to the extent of our ability.”
