When Kevin De Bruyne is no longer a vital member of Manchester City, PEP GUARDIOLA thinks he will decide to depart.
This summer, the Belgian’s contract expires, and manager Guardiola stated: “I’m fairly certain Kevin will be honest.”
According to manager Pep Guardiola, Kevin De Bruyne will try to finish as best he can.
“After this season or the next, he will want to end here, performing at his peak.
When he no longer believes he can be the Kevin who can contribute to the team and produce as he has over the past ten years, I don’t think he will be here.
He will make the greatest decision for himself and the team in these kinds of circumstances, such as those involving David Silva.
Even though he might not play every three days for 11 months, I’m very certain he needs to play his best Kevin. Unfortunately, he was unable to deliver that due to his ailments.

Following a replacement dispute, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says his relationship with Kevin De Bruyne is “fine.” Eurosport
De Bruyne negotiated his last four-year contract, worth £66 million, in 2021. With the help of two lawyers but no agency, he used data analytics to prove his value to City.
He has suffered from serious ailments for the last two seasons and will turn 34 this summer.
De Bruyne, who cost £54 million to go from Wolfsburg in 2015, has been a Premier League star for the past 10 years and is considered City’s lucky charm. However, he has only made 25 starts since the 2023–24 season started due to injury.
If he does decide to end his time at Etihad, clubs in Saudi Arabia and the MLS will be vying for his services.
He disclosed that he had a conversation with the club throughout the summer but had to halt it due to a new groin issue.
He responded, “To be honest, I don’t know,” when asked what the future holds. Regretfully, I was against Brentford because of that. I’ve essentially set everything aside. I wasn’t in the appropriate mindset.
“I had hoped to be gone for a few days, but it took eight or nine weeks instead. I would therefore like to get better first, assess my condition, and then deal with the rest.
“There’s no hurry. There will be discussions; if not, this will be my final year.
KDB now knows he can continue working with Guardiola, who last week inked a new two-year contract at the Etihad, should he decide to stay.
He responded, “It could help,” when asked if it would be a consideration. However, he might say, “Thank you, Kevin.” It’s time to go.
