The former Arsenal academy striker isn’t ruling out a return to north London, and his impressive play at Sturm Graz has already sparked rumors about his future.
Biereth said that the idea of wearing an Arsenal shirt once more would be “fantastic,” despite his attention being on his present success in Austria.
The 21-year-old attacker has been in incredible form, tallying nine goals and dishing out two assists in 14 domestic games this season since joining Sturm Graz on a permanent basis this summer after a successful loan stint.
He scored a goal and provided an assist in a 5-2 victory against Grazer AK 1902 this past weekend, demonstrating his growth with a recent hat-trick against RB Salzburg. This was the same offensive instinct that first attracted Arsenal’s attention.
Biereth, however, is still grounded despite his aspirations to maybe rejoin Arsenal. He told TV2 that while a return to Arsenal would be amazing, he isn’t currently concentrating on it. I’m focused on Sturm and on performing well and scoring goals right now, but hopefully things will change if I continue to play well and score goals.
At the senior level, Biereth’s career at Arsenal never really took off. Despite being included in multiple Arsenal senior matchday squads, the Danish striker did not play in the main team since joining from Fulham in 2021 after thriving in their junior system.
After loan stints at RKC Waalwijk and Kilmarnock, he finally had a chance to shine during his January 2024 tenure at Sturm Graz.
Biereth scored nine goals in 22 games while on loan, helping Sturm win a domestic double and winning the supporters’ affection in the process.
The Austrian team acted swiftly to acquire him for approximately £4 million, a club record cost, as the success of his loan period made the permanent transfer a logical next step.
Arsenal obviously recognized the potential value that Biereth might yet realize by included a sizable sell-on clause in the agreement.
Biereth, who has a deal with Sturm Graz through 2028, is doing well. He is committed to proving himself in every game because the Austrian league leaders are depending on him to keep up his performance in their championship defense.
In contrast to the distractions of London, Biereth has stated that he is happy with his current circumstances and highlighted the advantages of performing in a smaller city like Graz. In Sturm Graz, everything is going smoothly. Right now, I have nothing to be unhappy about. I perform well every week, and we now play in the Champions League, where I have yet to score my first goal,” Biereth remarked.
Even though he hasn’t scored in his first two Champions League games, the fact that he is participating in the most prominent club league in Europe shows how far he has come since his Arsenal days.
Biereth has found stability and consistency in Graz that London was unable to provide. “There are a lot of distractions for a young athlete in London. While some are good, some are not.
“There are fewer opportunities to do something wrong in Graz because it’s a much smaller city,” he said. Biereth has been able to concentrate on his football because of the change in surroundings, and the outcomes speak for themselves.
Although the competition is still tough, Sturm Graz has a solid start to the 2024–25 season, leading the Austrian division with Rapid Wien trailing by just one point.
Even though Biereth is focused on his current duties, it is evident that a return to Arsenal is still a dream—one that, provided he keeps up his good work, is not totally out of the question.
After completing his transfer, he posted on social media, saying, “Once a gooner, always a gooner,” demonstrating his unwavering devotion to Arsenal. I am grateful for everything.
Biereth is now flourishing at Graz, but scouts and supporters of Arsenal will surely be monitoring his progress.
