Adam Wharton and Martin Zubimendi have been named by Manchester City as the top options to replace Rodri in January.

City had planned to sign a new player next summer, but Rodri’s injury to the anterior cruciate ligament has made them think about making an investment in January, according to The Daily Mail. On the list are Crystal Palace midfielder Wharton and Real Sociedad star Zubimendi.

Wharton, 20, moved from Blackburn to Palace in February of this year. He has already been linked with moves to Liverpool and City. The same goes for Zubimendi. He has been linked with both teams and almost moved to Anfield last summer.

Rodri hasn’t played since September 22, when he hurt himself against Arsenal and had to miss the rest of the season. Although City didn’t lose in their next four games, they’ve now had a terrible run of five losses and one tie in their last six games.

Pep Guardiola’s team will try to end their terrible run when they play Liverpool on Sunday. Liverpool is eight points ahead of them at the top of the Premier League.
