Thursday night was Barcelona’s 125th anniversary party. A lot of famous people from the club’s history and present came together to enjoy. But it was Pep Guardiola’s appearance that got everyone talking. 

The Manchester City manager’s pre-recorded video was shown in the Gran Teatre del Liceu. The scar on his nose, which he wore before his team’s 3-3 draw with Feyenoord, gave some hints about when it was shot. 

But instead of talking about the club where he won the European Cup as a player and as a manager, the Spaniard was seen miming to the Catalan band Manel’s song “Aniversari.” 

Everyone in the grand auditorium cheered wildly for the strange show, which lasted just over a minute. 

In contrast, people on social media were less enthusiastic about the moment. Some joked that the 53-year-old man had been made to do it against his will. 

The truth is that the song is very important to Guardiola because it is said to be one of his favorites. The monotone music and somber face of the singer made the cover a very interesting touch. 

Guardiola couldn’t make it to the event in person like Frank Rijkaard, Hristo Stoichkov, Xavi Hernandez, and Patrick Kluivert because City had important things to do. 

The players from Barcelona, who are currently on top of LaLiga, were all dressed appropriately for the event, and club president Joan Laporta was the center of attention. More film clips from Neymar, Romario, Luis Suarez, and Lionel Messi were shown. 

The club also presented a new mascot, which they cleverly named “Cat.” It was made by famous Catalan siblings Carlos and Jordi Grangel to honor Barcelona’s 125th birthday.  

Guardiola is having the worst run of his career when he shows up. The fact that it only adds up to six games shows how impressive his record is. The manager who used to be in charge of Barcelona and Bayer Munich is still looking for his first win in over a month. 

His team finally won after losing five games in a row on Tuesday night, but their 3-3 draw with Feyenoord may have been the most concerning sign of their current problems. City was ahead 3-0 at home against the Dutch team, but in the last 15 minutes of the game, they gave up their lead.

Another interesting thing about the game was when the City manager showed up and talked after the game. In the press conference after the game, Guardiola was asked about the cut on his nose. Scratches could be seen on his head, and he joked that he wanted to “harm himself” after the fall. 

He said sorry for what he said the next day and claimed that he wasn’t trying to make fun of self-harm. 

His team has the tough job of going to Liverpool, who are currently in first place in the Premier League, on Sunday. Liverpool can make their title chances even stronger by moving 11 points ahead of the reigning champions after only 13 games. 

People ask him, “Pep, why is he not in trouble?” on Friday night, but he was adamant that he would take on the task of getting his team back on track. Why isn’t he fired?”

Because of what we’ve done in the last eight years, I have this difference.

“People here depend on me.” As soon as I start to feel bad about the club, another one will show up. The club will make the choice they need to make and find an answer. But I was eager for the chance to try.

“I don’t want to leave.” To try to keep the team up there, I want to rebuild it in many ways from now until the end of the season and again next season. Now I have to prove myself.
