Prince William recently celebrated significant milestones for two causes central to his royal duties.
On October 1, he joined former soccer star David Beckham to mark the purchase of a new helicopter for London’s Air Ambulance charity. This event celebrated the successful conclusion of the “Up Against Time” fundraising campaign, which raised over $21 million for two new H135 helicopters.
During the visit to RAF Northolt, William and Beckham toured the bright red helicopter and signed it, with William writing, “Back in the middle,” and Beckham adding, “Thank you. Fly Safe Love David Beckham.” Despite plans for William to watch a helicopter take off, rainy weather prevented this from happening.
The “Up Against Time” appeal was initiated in 2021 to address the aging MD902 helicopters used by the charity. The successful fundraising will allow the medical team to continue providing crucial services across London.
In addition to this event, Prince William also visited ENSO, a 2023 Earthshot Prize finalist that creates eco-friendly tires for electric vehicles. This visit highlighted a new partnership between ENSO and Uber, aimed at promoting sustainable transportation solutions. Prince William engaged with the founder of ENSO and participated in discussions regarding the partnership, which aims to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles.
Before the day concluded, he was scheduled to help fit an ENSO tire on an electric vehicle, further demonstrating his commitment to environmental initiatives.
