CircleZeroEight, a digital magazine founded by former British GQ Style fashion head and deputy editor Elgar Johnson, is rewriting the narrative of sports and culture. The magazine’s debut issue, FRESH, aims to showcase sports as a medium not just for entertainment but also for combating prejudice and promoting inclusivity.

Declan Rice’s Editorial Debut

Declan Rice, affectionately known as “Deccers,” graces the cover of Issue 01, marking his first magazine cover for CircleZeroEight. Styled by Johnson himself and photographed by Maxwell Tomlinson, the editorial presents an unfiltered perspective on the sports world. Rice is adorned in Prada, epitomizing the intersection of sports and high fashion.

Diverse Cover Stars

Alongside Rice, the issue features two additional covers that spotlight influential figures in sports. Annie Jill Tagoe, a rising British athlete, stuns in a look curated by Katie Grand and captured by Sølve Sundsbø. The third cover stars the legendary nine-time Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis, styled by Dan May and photographed by John Balsom in Los Angeles.

The FRESH Narrative

Premiering in collaboration with the Design Museum, FRESH emphasizes the dynamic relationship between sports and contemporary culture. Contributions from photographer Ewen Spencer, journalist Lauren Cochrane, and artist Saul Nash further enrich this unique exploration.
