Chelsea have reportedly submitted an offer of around £70 million for Barcelona star Raphinha, but the La Liga giants are standing firm, insisting they won’t entertain a sale for less than £82 million.
Raphinha is currently one of the most in-form players in Europe, with 17 goals this season—already surpassing his best scoring tally—and he ranks second on La Liga’s top-scorers list. Additionally, he has contributed 10 assists in all competitions, highlighting his significant impact on the team.
Chelsea’s interest in Raphinha comes as they look to strengthen their squad by pairing him with standout player Cole Palmer. According to Fichajes, the Blues have acted on their interest by lodging a bid of €85 million (£70m/$89m). However, Barcelona has made it clear that any sale would only be considered if they receive €100 million (£82.3m/$104.8m), a price they believe reflects Raphinha’s importance and the club’s financial needs.
Where Would Raphinha Fit?
Raphinha’s versatility allows him to play as a right-winger, left-winger, or even as a No. 10. However, at Chelsea, the attacking midfield role is currently occupied by Palmer, who is thriving in that position. The Blues have typically started with either Pedro Neto or Noni Madueke on the wings, with Neto being particularly effective this season.
It’s likely that if Raphinha were to join, he could play on one wing while Neto occupies the other. Notably, Neto has performed best on the left, while Raphinha has found success on the right.
Chelsea Round-Up: Potential Transfers
In addition to Raphinha, Barcelona is reportedly willing to part with Frenkie de Jong and Ferran Torres to facilitate a deal for Enzo Fernandez. Meanwhile, there are rumors surrounding Palmer’s potential move to Real Madrid, although he has expressed a desire to remain at Chelsea.
Chelsea is also looking to secure Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool, who appears set to leave the club. Furthermore, a transfer for center-back target Ruben Dias could be feasible, with indications that Manchester City may be open to allowing him to leave.
As the transfer window approaches, it looks to be an active period for Chelsea as they aim to bolster their squad.
