Manchester United exited the Carabao Cup with a 4-3 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter-finals on Thursday night.
The Red Devils delivered a mixed performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, marred by numerous defensive lapses that ultimately led to their downfall.
Spurs quickly established a 3-0 lead by the 54th minute. Although United fought back, their resurgence was aided by two goalkeeping mistakes from Fraser Forster.
Altay Bayindir also had his share of errors for United. The match concluded with a 4-3 victory for Spurs.
Several players had disappointing outings, with Bayindir struggling in goal and Lisandro Martinez not at his best defensively.
Martinez notably contributed to Dejan Kulusevski’s second goal with a poor clearance attempt and was outmuscled by Dominic Solanke for the third.
However, the biggest letdown was Antony, who squandered a significant opportunity to impact the game.
The Brazilian was selected as one of the playmakers alongside Bruno Fernandes but failed to pose a threat, lacking pace throughout.
Antony won just four of 14 duels, failed to complete any of his four dribbles, lost possession 11 times, and managed only 13 passes.
