Liverpool appears to be moving swiftly this summer now that the season is ended and rumors have circulated that manager Jurgen Klopp wants to make three signings by the end of June.
According to reports, Alexis Mac Allister’s contract with Liverpool is set to expire in 2028, thus it appears that he will soon be joining the team. The Reds are reportedly planning to sign a big-name player this summer as they move on to defense.
Liverpool has reportedly made an offer to purchase French defender Jules Kounde, according to the Daily Mail. But in order to halt the transfer, Barcelona wants £52 million.
If that’s true, it would be fantastic for The Reds to sign this player. After being repeatedly linked to a move to Chelsea, Kounde spent £46 million to go from Sevilla to Barcelona last year. According to reports, the player has requested to depart because he dislikes being played out of position. Barcelona’s precarious financial situation worsened as they failed to go past the group stages of the UEFA Champions League this season. In order to get their finances in line and adhere to Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, Barcelona must sell players.
The Daily Mail article follows one published earlier this week by the Spanish newspaper Nacional, which said that Kounde had “formally requested his request to change scenery” after just a year at Camp Nou. According to Nacional, Kounde is once again attracting interest from Manchester United and Liverpool. According to the newspaper, the player “feels cheated” and is “not motivated by the project” because he was promised a center back position.
