Manchester City is considering January signings to replace Rodri, with Adam Wharton and Martin Zubimendi emerging as top options. Initially planning to make a move next summer, City’s strategy shifted due to Rodri’s anterior cruciate ligament injury, which has kept him out since September 22 following a match against Arsenal.
Wharton, 20, recently transferred from Blackburn to Crystal Palace and has attracted interest from both Liverpool and City. Zubimendi, a standout player for Real Sociedad, has also been linked to both clubs, having nearly joined Liverpool last summer.
Since Rodri’s injury, City has struggled, recording five losses and one draw in their last six matches, despite not losing their first four games without him. Pep Guardiola’s squad will look to turn their fortunes around in an upcoming match against Liverpool, who currently sit eight points ahead at the top of the Premier League.
