The German news source Bild recently reported that Joshua Zirkzee, a striker for Manchester United, was “hapless and unmotivated” during training. Zirkzee has responded to the report.
The Dutchman told De Telegraaf, “I felt it [Bild’s report] was a bit too much, unnecessary.”
“Everyone has workouts where they don’t score as many goals. Do I have to maintain my cheerful demeanor at all times?
It gives me even greater motivation, on the one hand. However, I believe that you should let it go. as long as my teammates and trainers have faith in me. That is what matters most, and I will keep working toward it.
After Zirkzee’s lackluster performance over the weekend, United fans will be hoping for a similar response from him. This season, the 23-year-old, who cost £36.5 million to sign, has made 24 appearances across all competitions and managed four goals.
Even though he has played in all 17 of United’s league games thus far, he has only scored twice since the opening day, and both goals were against Everton. It remains to be seen if he can save his Old Trafford career, but the young player appears to be unaffected by criticism.
