Former Chelsea defender William Gallas has suggested that Cole Palmer may consider leaving the club if they fail to win a trophy this season. Gallas believes that if Chelsea does not show signs of improvement under Enzo Maresca, Palmer could look for opportunities elsewhere, particularly at Barcelona.
Gallas commented, “Cole Palmer might want to leave Chelsea in the future if they don’t show they can win trophies, but where would he go? Barcelona would be a great move for him, but they already have talented young players like Lamine Yamal and could be signing Nico Williams.”
He expressed concern that Palmer, despite his young age, might struggle to watch his England teammates celebrate successes while he remains trophyless at Chelsea. Gallas added, “I won’t be surprised if he wants to speak to Chelsea in the summer if they again fail to win a trophy. He will want to know clearly what their targets are.”
However, there is currently no indication that Palmer is actively seeking a move to Barcelona. The midfielder signed a long-term contract with Chelsea, which was renewed this summer, extending his stay until 2033. It would take a significant bid for Barcelona to lure him away from Stamford Bridge.
