FC Barcelona is currently focusing on strengthening its squad for the summer of 2025, even though January signings are unlikely. Under the guidance of sporting management led by Deco, the club is targeting a new left-winger and reinforcements for both full-back positions.
Potential targets for the left-wing position include Nico Williams, Rafael Leao, and Luis Diaz. In terms of left-back options, Tyrick Mitchell and Alvaro Carreras are under consideration.
Additionally, reports from Estadio Deportivo indicate that Barcelona has set its sights on Rayo Vallecano’s Andrei Ratiu as a right-back option. Although the team has Jules Kounde and Hector Fort available, Fort’s ongoing physical issues have prompted the need for added depth in defense. Ratiu, with a release clause of only €25 million, is viewed as an affordable target.
However, securing Ratiu will not be easy, as Atletico Madrid, led by manager Diego Simeone, is also interested in the player furthermore, AS Roma has shown strong interest in acquiring Ratiu, potentially looking to make a move in the January transfer window.
It’s important to note that Villarreal holds 50% of Ratiu’s rights and could re-sign him for a favorable fee, keeping a close eye on his situation. Thus, if Barcelona decides to pursue Ratiu, it will face significant competition from other clubs.
