WHAT HAPPENED?
Manchester City have struggled in their pursuit of a fifth consecutive Premier League title, dropping to seventh place after a 1-1 draw with Everton. Bernardo Silva’s opener was canceled out by Ilman Ndiaye’s strike in the 36th minute.
WHAT AKANJI SAID
When asked by BBC if the Premier League title was still a possibility, Akanji replied: “The season is not finished, but it’s not a target for us at the moment. We need to focus game by game, and the next match against Leicester City will not be easy, especially given the shape we’re in. We need to focus on the positives. We did a lot of things well—defended well and attacked well—but we weren’t able to finish as we wanted to, or we could have scored three or four goals.”
WHAT NEXT FOR MAN CITY?
The two matches before the end of the calendar year against Everton and Leicester City were seen as Manchester City’s chance to regain form. However, their draw with the Toffees has likely ended their Premier League title hopes. They will play their final match of 2024 against Leicester City on December 29.
