Mohamed Salah has firmly established himself as one of the finest players in world football, with performances this season that place him in the conversation for the Ballon d’Or and make him a leading contender for the PFA Player of the Year award. Liverpool’s status as Premier League title favorites owes much to Salah’s brilliance.
However, he isn’t the only winger making headlines in the league. Chelsea’s Cole Palmer has been in sensational form, and Arsenal boasts their own star wide player in Bukayo Saka.
Saka’s outstanding season has even led to comparisons with Salah, with England teammate Conor Gallagher claiming Saka is the better player right now. In an interview with ESPN, Gallagher picked Saka over Salah without hesitation.
While Gallagher’s opinion could stem from bias, given his close friendship with Saka through their time in the England camp, it’s clear the Arsenal winger has captured the admiration of many this season. Gallagher’s comments underscore the rising debate about the Premier League’s elite talents, further fueling the excitement surrounding this year’s campaign.
Bukayo Saka compared to Salah
Gallagher says that Saka is better than Salah, but based on this season’s form, it’s hard to agree.
Indeed, Salah has been by-far-and-away the most effective player in the Premier League this term for the team currently at the top of the table.
Salah wipes the floor with any player in the Premier League statistically this season, he’s the top scorer and the top assister in the league, and he’s on track to break all sorts of records this term.
Arne Slot’s side have been imperious this season, and it’s fair to say that Salah’s incredible form has been at the heart of that.
Salah’s contract is up next summer, and Liverpool need to address that situation as soon as possible.
Luckily, Salah’s contract talks are going well, and this situation could well be resolved in the coming weeks.
Saka has also been brilliant this term, but there many not be a player on planet earth who has perfomed as well as Salah this season.
