Ferran Torres of Barcelona has been the target of a transfer offer from English team Newcastle United in recent days, but Barca has turned it down.

Spanish reports claim that Barcelona is aggressively seeking to sell a few players to generate money for their transfer operations. Given this, Newcastle has offered Ferran Torres a transfer for almost 15 million euros, or 12.8 million pounds.

Ferran Torres joined Barcelona in January 2022 for a transfer fee of up to 55 million euros, but his time at the Nou Camp has been challenging due to inconsistent form and frequent injuries. As a result, Barcelona is now looking to cut their losses and find a way to sell Torres to recoup some of the capital invested.

Newcastle, one of the wealthiest clubs in the world following their acquisition by Saudi Arabia, is actively seeking quality signings to strengthen their squad. Torres is seen as a significant target for the club in the upcoming summer transfer window.

However, Newcastle’s offer of 15 million euros does not meet Barcelona’s expectations. The Catalan club reportedly wants to secure at least 20-25 million euros from the sale of Torres. This disparity in valuation indicates that the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement regarding the potential transfer of the player.

Barcelona presently has Ferran Torres under contract till 2027. However, it is quite likely that Torres will leave Camp Nou soon as Barca looks to bolster their squad for the upcoming season and improve their financial status.

Newcastle will have a young player with a lot of potential who has played for one of the best teams in Europe if this move goes through. Torres is probably going to play a significant role in Newcastle’s long-term team-building plan.

The inability of the two clubs to agree on a price, however, indicates that there are still a lot of challenges in the way of acquiring Torres. To reach an agreement and close this deal in the upcoming days, both parties will need to keep discussing.
