Trent Alexander-Arnold is poised for a significant payday of around £100 million if he makes the move to Real Madrid. The European champions were initially willing to offer £20 million to sign the Liverpool right-back, but their recent decision to officially express interest is seen as a strategic move to potentially secure him on a free transfer this summer.
Should Alexander-Arnold join Real Madrid, he is expected to receive a substantial increase on his current wages of £180,000 a week at Anfield. The real financial attraction, however, will be the signing-on fee. For example, when Kylian Mbappe transferred from Paris Saint-Germain to Real Madrid, he received a £128 million signing bonus over his five-year contract, in addition to annual wages of £12.8 million.
While Alexander-Arnold may not reach Mbappe’s total package of £192 million, he would still become one of the highest-paid players in the world. Reports indicate that he has communicated his desire to join Real Madrid and seek a new challenge after spending 20 years at Liverpool. However, sources from Merseyside claim that the club is actively working to secure new contracts for Alexander-Arnold and other key players, including Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.
In addition, Real Madrid is reportedly interested in Arsenal’s William Saliba. Nevertheless, Saliba recently expressed his commitment to the Gunners, stating, “I feel at home here,” and indicating his intention to stay at the Emirates for the long term.
