THE GOAT: David Raya was JUDGED by fans for his ‘huge mistake’ against Brentford before making a fantastic save on the goal line… from his own mistake!

David Raya faced criticism from fans for a “huge mistake” during Arsenal’s match against Brentford, but he quickly redeemed himself with an impressive goal-line save. In the 28th minute, while Arsenal was trailing 1-0, Keane Lewis-Potter took a shot that Raya should have easily stopped. Instead, he let the ball slip through his fingers, nearly conceding a goal.

In a remarkable display of agility, Raya performed an acrobatic backward dive to claw the ball away mid-air just above the goal line. His quick recovery proved pivotal, as Gabriel Jesus scored shortly afterward to equalize, canceling out Bryan Mbeumo’s opener.

Despite this crucial save, social media reactions were mixed, with some fans mocking his earlier mistake. Comments included questions about his shakiness against his former team and remarks about how his goal-line clearance only highlighted his initial error. One user noted, “Goal line clearance from his own initial mistake,” while others expressed nostalgia for former goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

In the second half, Arsenal surged ahead with goals from Mikel Merino and Gabriel Martinelli within three minutes, securing a 3-1 lead and ultimately the victory.

Arsenal currently boasts the joint-best defensive record in the Premier League, having conceded 17 goals, alongside Liverpool. Raya’s performance has been noteworthy this season, with only Robert Sanchez of Chelsea having a better save percentage. Earlier in the season, Raya drew praise for a sensational double-save against Atalanta in the Champions League, with co-commentator Steve McManaman calling one of those saves “unbelievable” and among the best he had ever seen.
