Manchester City is reportedly targeting a double signing this month, eyeing Omar Marmoush, a forward from Eintracht Frankfurt, and Ederson, a midfielder from Atalanta. Manager Pep Guardiola is eager to reinvigorate the team’s season, particularly as they currently sit sixth in the Premier League and risk missing out on a Champions League spot.
Marmoush, 25, would provide much-needed firepower to a struggling City attack. The Egyptian forward has been in impressive form, scoring 18 goals in 24 games for Frankfurt this season, contributing to the club’s third-place standing in the Bundesliga. However, Frankfurt is hesitant to sell, especially mid-season.
City’s interest in Marmoush comes amidst competition from other clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool. Nottingham Forest had previously attempted to secure him with two bids totaling up to £28 million in the summer, but both were rejected. Marmoush’s current valuation is now believed to be around £50 million.
As for Ederson, City is looking for a strong midfielder to fill the gap left by injured linchpin Rodri, who is facing a long recovery from a knee injury. At just 25, Ederson could bring the necessary midfield strength, but Atalanta, currently leading Serie A, would likely demand a similar fee to Marmoush for their player.
Guardiola’s pursuit of these two players indicates his commitment to strengthening the squad as they aim to turn their season around.
