Mo Salah, the forward for Liverpool, has joined forces with Lionel Messi, the Barcelona icon, to promote Pepsi in a new television commercial. Known for featuring some of the world’s top footballers, Pepsi has previously showcased stars like David Beckham, Roberto Carlos, and Carli Lloyd in its campaigns.
Salah, who has been a Pepsi brand ambassador since 2016, takes on a more prominent role in this advert, reflecting his impressive performance with Liverpool, where he has scored 64 goals in 86 games. On Monday night, he shared a 30-second version of the commercial on Twitter, using the hashtag #FORTHELOVEOFIT.

The ad opens with Messi and Salah arriving at a petrol station set against a sandy backdrop, where they discover only one can of Pepsi left in the fridge. To determine who deserves the last can, the two legends unleash a series of footballs from a display unit and challenge each other to various drills.
After matching each other’s skills—kicking balls at a sign, into the headlight sockets of a broken-down car, and through moving tires—they are taken aback when a third party cheekily swoops in to drink the final can of Pepsi. Salah smiles and shrugs off the situation, while Messi shakes his head in disbelief. The duo then spots a Pepsi lorry and chases after it, arms waving in the air.
