Isak asking price

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Alexander Isak, but Newcastle are demanding a mammoth £150million for the striker.

Newcastle do not want to sell the forward and, with more than three years left on his contract, they are in a strong position. According to the Telegraph, Newcastle are ‘relaxed’ about Isak’s future and are planning to open talks over a new deal soon.

The report adds that Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested in the forward, while Liverpool view Isak as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah if he does not agree a contract extension.

Goalkeeper search widens

Arsenal have widened their search for a new goalkeeper to provide cover for David Raya.

Espanyol’s Joan Garcia is on their radar, but it remains to be seen if Arsenal will decide to trigger his £25m release clause. Although Garcia is their top target, Boca Juniors goalkeeper Leandro Brey has also been scouted by the Gunners.

He is understood to have a £12m release clause and is also attracting interest from the likes of Lazio, Napoli and Atletico Madrid. Neto was signed on loan from Bournemouth last summer to deputise for Raya, but Arsenal are not expected to make the move a permanent one.

Vieira plans

Porto manager Vitor Bruno has denied suggestions Arsenal are set to recall Fabio Vieira next month after the midfielder was dropped their win over Boavista on Sunday.

“I have to make decisions, pay close attention to the players’ performance and how they view their day-to-day activities,” Bruno said. “Fábio is very talented, but talent has to be based on a series of assumptions And when one or two of them ends up falling apart, it makes everything more difficult.

“He has immense potential and I have a large squad that offers me guarantees, I cannot give up on certain principles that are mine. I don’t need to pass on any message. Fábio knows me well and we are counting on him. He will be available to play again next week. So it is a question of making decisions.”
