Manchester United has allegedly been approached by Juventus with a proposal to swap their leading scorer, Dusan Vlahovic, for Joshua Zirkzee. Vlahovic, who made the move to Juventus for £62 million from Fiorentina in January 2022, has emerged as a key player for the Italian side, netting 12 goals in 23 appearances this season.
Zirkzee’s stint at Old Trafford has been difficult since his transfer from Bologna for £36.5 million. He came under fire from fans after a lackluster performance in a recent match against Newcastle, which reportedly left him in tears. Manager Ruben Amorim acknowledged that Zirkzee has been “suffering” during this challenging time, and a return to Italy might offer him a fresh start, where he previously thrived.
TalkSPORT reports that Juventus is open to including Vlahovic in a swap deal, as his contract expires in 18 months. The club aims to prevent losing him for free in 2026, particularly given his goal-scoring ability. However, Vlahovic has faced criticism for missing 12 significant chances this season and is seen as having a limited influence beyond scoring.
There are worries about Vlahovic’s compatibility with manager Thiago Motta’s playing style, which could play a role in Juventus considering a transfer. He currently makes nearly £10 million a year at the club, but they are unwilling to match that salary in a new deal, despite their desire to extend his contract.
Earlier this season, Vlahovic faced criticism from fans following a draw against Venezia and reacted strongly. However, he later attempted to repair relations with an Instagram post acknowledging their frustrations and calling for unity.
Vlahovic has attracted interest from the Premier League in the past, with clubs such as Chelsea and Arsenal being linked to the Serbian international.
