‘Different way to sell’ – How PSG feel about selling Lee Kang-in to Arsenal with Newcastle also keen on £18.8m man

PSG has reportedly made their stance clear regarding Lee Kang-in, with the French giants unwilling to part ways with the South Korean midfielder despite Arsenal’s reported interest.

Mikel Arteta’s side is in desperate need of attacking reinforcements after a series of injuries, including Bukayo Saka suffering a hamstring tear. Additionally, Ethan Nwaneri and Raheem Sterling are sidelined, leaving Arsenal’s squad stretched thin. Even in training, the Gunners have struggled to field nine senior players, as Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu are also unavailable.

The situation has led to speculation that Arsenal could make a move for Lee Kang-in, currently PSG’s No.19, to address their lack of depth. However, sources close to TBR Football’s Chief Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, indicate that PSG has no plans to let the attacking midfielder leave this January, reaffirming their commitment to keeping him at the Parc des Princes.

For Arsenal, this means they may have to look elsewhere as they search for solutions to strengthen their squad amid mounting challenges.

We understand Newcastle and Manchester City also like Lee along with Arsenal – although PSG view the man from Incheon as a vital player for the future, with little intention of sanctioning a departure.

The 23-year-old is under contract at PSG until June 2028, and seeing as the French giants are one of Europe’s wealthiest sides, it seems unlikely that any of the aforementioned Premier League trio would be able to tempt them into a sale with a significant bid.

PSG paid £18.8m to sign Lee from Mallorca back in July 2023, with the South Korean scoring 11 goals and providing seven assists in 60 appearances ever since.

Arsenal on alert after learning Nico Williams update

Lee is not the only attacker who has been linked with a move to N5 this month.

TBR Football understand Arsenal are excited by an update on Nico Williams – who is ready to give up on his dream move to Barcelona for now and consider a switch to the Premier League.

The Spain international would provide Arteta with the dynamism his frontline so badly lacks at the moment, and has a fixed release clause worth £48.1m written into his contract with Athletic Bilbao.
