At the Gran Gala del Calcio, Italy’s version of the PFA Awards, Riccardo Calafiori was named to the Serie A Team of the Year.
The Italian international’s outstanding play for Bologna last season, in which he was instrumental in the team’s fifth-place finish and Champions League berth, earned him this nomination. Bologna gave up the third-fewest goals in the division and only lost six games during the season.
Because of his exceptional performances, Calafiori was chosen to play for the Azzurri in the run-up to Euro 2024. He made two appearances during the competition before moving to north London in the summer. Without a doubt, his peers took notice of his breakthrough season and elected him to the Serie A top division’s annual dream team.
