In an effort to save the extinction of pygmy hippos, Antonio Rudiger is auctioning off his signed Real Madrid shirt.

Center-back for Real Madrid Toni, the pygmy hippo of the Berlin Zoo, now has Antonio Rudiger as her honorary sponsor.

He has partnered with the zoo to host a Catawiki online auction. A statue of the Indian rhinoceros Betty and Toni’s small football are among the goods for sale. The shirt Antonio Rudiger wore during the 4-0 victory over Osasuna, however, is the most unique piece.

A pygmy hippo research initiative in Sierra Leone’s Gola Rainforest National Park will benefit from all sale earnings. The goal of the project is to prevent the extinction of the pygmy hippo.

“There is a serious threat to the pygmy hippopotamus’s habitat in West Africa,” Antonio Rudiger told Newsflash. A permanent disappearance of this special animal would be devastating. By working together, we can prevent the extinction of this animal.

“This auction is to support a conservation project in Sierra Leone,” the German center-back continued. Everyone has a fantastic opportunity to make a joint donation. I’m hoping a lot of people will join.

This is the Real Madrid player’s most recent charitable endeavor. He previously visited West Africa in 2022 to establish the Antonio Rudiger educational charity. In the same year, the German player funded eleven children’s surgeries with his World Cup bonus.
