‘Not looking good’ – Mikel Arteta worried about Gabriel Jesus injury after striker was stretchered off against Man Utd😰😰

Mikel Arteta provided a concerning update regarding Gabriel Jesus after the forward was stretchered off during Arsenal’s FA Cup match against Manchester United. The 27-year-old sustained the injury while tangling with Bruno Fernandes, who was attempting to shoot from the edge of the box. Jesus, in a bid to intervene defensively, brought down Fernandes, prompting the Portuguese player to express his frustration at the referee for not awarding a free-kick.

As Jesus lay on the ground in visible pain, he covered his face while being carried off, replaced by Raheem Sterling. After the match, which ended in a penalty shootout victory for United, Arteta stated, “It’s not looking good. He was in quite a lot of pain.”

Former player Theo Walcott echoed Arteta’s sentiment, hoping for a swift return for Jesus but acknowledging the seriousness of the situation. Sterling’s return to the pitch was notable, as he had been sidelined with a knee injury since December 18.

Arsenal is already facing challenges with injury, as star player Bukayo Saka is expected to miss until March due to a hamstring issue, and Ethan Nwaneri suffered a muscle injury in a prior match. However, Arteta can count on the availability of Leandro Trossard, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Martinelli for their upcoming fixture against fierce rivals Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium.

Meanwhile, Spurs managed to navigate their own FA Cup challenge earlier in the day, defeating non-league Tamworth 3-0 after extra time.
