Inter Miami kicked off their 2025 training campaign with a second session under new head coach Javier Mascherano, featuring Lionel Messi among the squad in Ft. Lauderdale. The players underwent medical examinations on January 11 before officially reporting for training two days later.

Mascherano expressed his satisfaction with the team’s return from the holiday break, stating, “The feelings are very good. We know that it is not easy to be so long standing, but everyone has done their specific work. When you reincorporate and do the group work, they have returned very well.”

The coaching staff is focused on preparing the roster for a preseason tour across North, South, and Central America. Mascherano emphasized the importance of intensity in training, saying, “I like my teams to play with intensity and courage, but we need to be calm as we start this process.”
Yannick Bright, a player on the roster, noted the positive impact of Mascherano’s leadership, highlighting his experience as both a player and coach. “He knows what he’s doing, having played in the best spots and games possible. I did see flashes of intensity during training, and I love it,” Bright said.

Inter Miami will not have a complete roster for their first preseason friendly against Club América on January 18 in Las Vegas, as goalkeeper Drake Callender and midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi will be participating in the United States men’s national team camp. This camp is taking place at Inter Miami’s facilities, providing an opportunity for Messi, Mascherano, and USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino to connect.
