Arsenal could look to get their season back on track by spending big on Matheus Cunha amid a worrying issue up top.

The Gunners’ hopes of ending a two-decade-long wait for a title took yet another blow on Saturday night when Mikel Arteta’s side were held to their seventh draw of the season.

As has been the case with most Arsenal games this season, it was a result that didn’t come without controversy.

A contentious Joao Pedro penalty levelled things up for Brighton in the second half, after Ethan Nwaneri opened the scoring for the travelling title hopefuls.

Despite having over half an hour to find a winning goal, Arsenal were forced to settle for the point – a result that leaves their title chances hanging by a thread.

During what many had touted as ‘Arsenal’s year’, the inquest into why it’s Liverpool and not the capital club taking advantage of Manchester City’s sharp decline appears to have already started.

While their tally of 40 points is the same as it was last season, Arsenal are yet to show any discernible signs of improvement, with the continued injury crisis only making things worse for Arteta and co.

Arsenal’s chief creator, Bukayo Saka, was ruled out until the spring after undergoing surgery following a hamstring injury picked up last month.
