At the Emirates, the youthful mascot turned out to be a lucky charm.
BUKAYO SAKA helped make the occasion Raheem Sterling’s son will never forget possible. Prior to the Gunners’ Champions League matchup with PSG, Saka used seven-year-old Thiago Sterling as their mascot.
.
Before Tuesday’s match, the young player walked out onto the Emirates field with the Three Lions star.
The seven-year-old grinned as he stood in line with the Gunners for the Champions League anthem.
Thiago turned out to be a fortunate omen, as Saka scored the second goal in the hosts’ resounding 2-0 victory.
On X, a pleased Arsenal supporter commented, “What a fantastic gesture from our captain.”
“A special moment for Saka and Thiago,” said another.
“Love this,” a third person commented.
A fourth individual speculated, “Sterling is doing everything he can to turn this into a permanent transfer.”
Even at the age of one, Thiago was exhibiting the qualities of a great child. Thiago became popular as a child after showing off his football skills to his father during an indoor game.
Sterling is currently on loan to Arsenal from Chelsea, his parent club. Last month, the 29-year-old discussed his potential life beyond football for the first time.
In addition, he has no interest in becoming a coach, which is the typical career path for many sportsmen.
“I don’t know about coaching yet, but maybe something to do with working with young players and trying to help them,” Sterling wrote in the Gunners’ matchday schedule versus Leicester.
Sterling has only made two appearances since moving from Stamford Bridge in the summer.
He thinks he still has a lot to contribute to the field, though, as Arsenal aims to take home a trophy this year.
“I don’t know [about role after retirement] – it’s a way off yet,” he added. That will have to wait until later.
“I would like to get qualified, but I think I’ll prioritize playing over coaching first.”
