Prior to finalizing his transfer to AC Milan, Kyle Walker has arrived in Italy.
To finalize his first six-month loan agreement, which includes a club option to extend it to a permanent stay, the Manchester City star took off this morning.
.
Walker was dropped off at the airport this morning and was photographed in the rear of a Mercedes vehicle.
The transfer will be formally confirmed in the next few days. He then boarded a private aircraft to Milan.
Walker drove out of the airport in a black BMW when he first arrived in Italy.
SunSport was informed by a source: “The deal is done. Walker is eager to put on the well-known shirt and is thrilled about the future.
We also know that the Serie A powerhouses have reached an agreement wherein they will pay the majority of his weekly salary of £150,000.
Walker’s wage demands prevented their city rivals, Inter, from agreeing to a trade, despite their interest in him.
The 34-year-old was also targeted by Saudi Arabian teams, who made him an attractive contract offer.
.
Walker, however, was eager to continue playing at the top level because he hopes to return to the England lineup under Thomas Tuchel.
For the time being at least, the right-back’s dazzling seven-and-a-half-year tenure at Man City will come to an end.
Walker has won the Champions League, Super Cup, Club World Cup, two FA Cups, four Carabao Cups, and six Premier League crowns for the team.
He told Pep Guardiola he wanted to leave this month due to a decline in form, even though his contract didn’t expire until 2026.
Following City’s 2023 treble victory, Walker was on the verge of departing until Bayern Munich expressed interest in signing him.
A little-known clause prevents the club from acquiring two English players this month, thus his move to Milan puts an end to their pursuit of Marcus Rashford, the wantaway star from Manchester United.
Due to a change in laws following Brexit, the club only has one space left in their squad for a British player.
Italian teams are only allowed to bring in two non-EU players annually, with one additional English or Albanian star allowed.
Now that Milan has signed Walker, they have reached the threshold.
