In a social media post on Sunday night, Erling Haaland’s father responded to Arsenal’s jab at the Man City forward.
When Haaland and his City colleagues lost to Arsenal 5-1 at the Emirates, Myles Lewis-Skelly imitated Haaland’s celebration after scoring.
Many people believed that the Norwegian was making fun of the teenager from Arsenal in their match earlier in the season.
‘This Team’ was the caption for a photo of Lewis-Skelly’s celebration that Arsenal’s X account shared shortly after the final whistle.
In response to the article, Haaland’s father, Alfie, who played 38 games for City from 2000 to 2003, wrote: “This Team that Wins Everything.” Oh, no.
Haaland Sr. appeared to be making fun of Arsenal’s recent lack of trophy wins after losing to Man City in their title contests.
In the meanwhile, Arteta pulled Lewis-Skelly in the 90th minute on Sunday, and he received a standing ovation.
Arsenal put on a great show in a 5-1 triumph, and his goal, where he darted inside before hitting a shot that Stefan Ortega could only parry off the post, put them ahead 3-1.
After taking advantage of a mistake made by Manuel Akanji, Martin Odegaard gave the home team the lead early on. In the second half, Haaland briefly brought the score back to even.
Thomas Partey’s deflected attempt gave Arsenal the lead again a minute later, and Lewis-Skelly then gave the home team a two-goal cushion.
As additional goals from Kai Havertz and Ethan Nwaneri completed a fantastic evening for Mikel Arteta’s team, it became one-way traffic in the closing minutes.
After the Gunners and City drew 2-2 in September, Lewis-Skelly and Haaland faced off at the Etihad earlier this year.
Lewis-Skelly tried to step in and support his teammate after witnessing Haaland and Gabriel spar.
When Lewis-Skelly arrived on the scene, Haaland responded by dismissively waving him away.
Later that evening, after his team had taken an early lead, Gabriel, an Arsenal defender, was seen grinning in the face of Haaland, a striker for Manchester City.
Gabriel joyfully sprinted up the field to celebrate with his teammates after witnessing the ball strike City’s net, stopping to make fun of Haaland as he went.
With his goal in the loss to Arsenal, Haaland now has 19 goals for the Premier League season, two more than top scorer Mohammed Salah.
