By celebrating in front of his competitor, Gabriel Magalhaes rekindled his conflict with Erling Haaland.
The incident occurred early in Arsenal’s 5-1 victory over Man City at the Emirates.
Given their prior encounters, the Manchester City striker and Arsenal defender are still in love.
And after the Gunners took an early lead, Sunday afternoon’s match at the Emirates demonstrated that the rivalry was still blazing fiercely.
Within three minutes, Manuel Akanji gave away the ball, and Martin Odegaard tapped home from a square pass from Kai Havertz.
Gabriel used the opportunity to get in Haaland’s face as the home team surged up the field to join in the celebration with the goal scorer.
As the 24-year-old went past, the Brazilian was spotted yelling in his face.
The 27-year-old’s needle was adored by many.
“Gabriel is so petty,” one fan commented on social media. He went to the front of Haaland to celebrate.
“Hahaha Gabriel to Haaland,” said a second. What a fantastic rivalry.
To quote a third, “Gabriel had every right to do that to Haaland.”
“The Premier League needs this,” another person stated.
Fifth, “Bro Gabriel’s reaction on Haaland is everything.”
Arsenal was devastated when they lost late in the rematch at the Etihad earlier this season, after a last-ditch defense involving ten players for over an hour.
Haaland ran out of the goal during the celebrations and hurled the ball at Gabriel’s head.
Haaland’s advice to Gunners manager Mikel Arteta to “remain humble” following the 2-2 game also sparked an emotional response.
After the incident, Haaland claimed he did it in the “heat of the moment” and expressed no remorse.
“I don’t even remember this,” Gabriel remarked in response to the ball tossing incident at the time.
They were ecstatic after scoring in the final minute, so it’s normal. Since they were playing at home, it was their responsibility to win, but our squad performed admirably in holding back.
Since football is a conflict and a war, provocative behavior is common and a necessary component of the game. We are waiting for them at our ground now that this is over.
During the decisive victory, Gabriel wasn’t the only player to seize the opportunity to wound up Haaland.
After scoring a goal, little Myles Lewis-Skelly performed Haaland’s meditation celebration.
