During Real Madrid’s dramatic 1-1 match with arch rivals Atletico in La Liga, Jude Bellingham was overheard yelling obscenities at a linesman.
The midfielder swore next to one of the Bernabeu’s pitchside microphones after being taken aback by an early call made by the assistant referee.
.
This indicated that during the TV broadcast, his X-rated tirade of five words could be heard.
Bellingham played a frustrated role for the majority of the match, as Kylian Mbappe and Julian Alvarez’s exchanges pushed both teams to settle for a point.
But Bellingham lost his fury after just eleven minutes had passed.
Both teams tried to claim the ball after it was sent out for a throw-in. To the ire of the home crowd, the linesman promptly signaled for Atletico to take it.
Bellingham threw a furious fit and spun around to face the linesman.
“F*** you, man!” he came out yelling. “F*** off!”
Bellingham avoided a booking despite his demonstration of disapproval, although it is unclear if LaLiga will opt to conduct a back-end probe.
Only a few months had passed since he called a referee a “piece of s***” in front of them during Real Madrid’s 4-1 triumph against Espanyol.
After Atletico seized the lead thanks to a penalty kick from Julian Alvarez following a foul by Aurelien Tchouameni, Bellingham’s evening took yet another turn for the worse.
After the half, though, the home team responded spectacularly, as Mbappe leveled the score to keep them one point ahead of Atletico at the top of the league.
Bellingham was involved when Mbappe scored his 16th league goal of the season—and his 22nd goal overall—after his shot was blocked and dropped nicely.
“The team is disappointed because they think they deserved to win, even though the second half went well.” Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, stated, “We were close.”
We have an easier week until Tuesday [against Manchester City], so we should be glad that we are still in the lead after a demanding week.
“We felt good when we left the game.”
The team was impacted by the penalty issue. We played too slowly before. Vinicius and Rodrygo generated a lot of threat as we played with greater width in the second half.
