Additionally, Budweiser celebrated by giving bottles to the goalies who had been unable to stop Messi.

Gianluigi Buffon of Juventus and Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid were among those who were given a preferential selection.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, the world-record £71 million stopper for Chelsea, also got some bottles. He posed for pictures, looking happy.

Messi scored his 644th goal in a much-needed 3-0 triumph over Valladolid.

In the 65th minute, Messi collected a brilliant backheel from Pedri, with his team already ahead 2-0 from goals from Martin Braithwaite and Clement Lenglet in the first half.

After taking it perfectly into his stride, the 33-year-old unleashed an unstoppable left-footed effort past the defenseless goalie.

In his 749th game with the Blaugrana, Messi accomplished the feat.

However, Pele may privately dispute the accomplishment, claiming to have scored 1,283 goals in his storied career.

Although it only took Santos 656 of them to reach the total, the official records indicate that only 643 participated in “official” matches.

The 80-year-old Brazilian offered a touching congrats to Messi on Saturday when his record was tied.

“It is hard to change your path when your heart is overflowing with love,” he wrote.

“I understand what it’s like to like wearing the same shirt every day, just like you do. I agree with you that the place where we feel at home is the best.

“Lionel, congrats on your outstanding record. Above all, though, congrats on your wonderful Barcelona career.

“Unfortunately, there won’t be many football stories like ours about long-term devotion to the same team. I greatly admire you.
