Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes once again proved instrumental, leading his team to a spirited 3-2 victory over struggling Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
Ipswich struck first, scoring just five minutes in due to a costly mix-up between Patrick Dorgu and Andre Onana, allowing Jaden Philogene-Bidace to net an easy goal.
United responded swiftly, with Fernandes delivering a brilliant free-kick that Sam Morsy converted. Moments later, another corner from Fernandes was finished off by Matthijs de Ligt.
Things took a turn for the worse for Ipswich when Dorgu received a red card for a reckless challenge on Omari Hutchinson. The situation deteriorated further as another error from Onana was capitalized on by Philogene-Bidace. However, Harry Maguire headed in a Fernandes corner early in the second half, securing vital points for United.
With three goals stemming from his set-pieces, Fernandes has now assisted the last six goals scored by the Red Devils.
During his time on the pitch, Fernandes touched the ball 81 times, completing 49 of 64 passes, including four key passes. He successfully connected with four crosses and seven of 14 long balls, creating one significant chance.
Defensively, he was solid as well, winning four out of six ground duels and successfully contesting one aerial challenge. He also drew two fouls and made two tackles.
Regardless of the challenges at Old Trafford, Fernandes consistently emerges as a crucial player for the club. While he may not be to everyone’s taste, his significance and impact are undeniable.
