Manchester United snapped their three-match winless streak in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
Harry Maguire sends message after Man Utd win vs Ipswich, Amad and Bruno Fernandes respond
The Red Devils delivered a mixed performance in the first half against Ipswich Town at Old Trafford. A significant setback came when Patrick Dorgu was sent off before halftime. However, they rallied in the second half to secure the victory.
Harry Maguire netted the winning goal early in the second half, capitalizing on a brilliant delivery from Bruno Fernandes in the 47th minute. Fernandes was undoubtedly the standout player, contributing to all three goals, but Maguire shone as the unsung hero with an impressive all-around display.
The English defender excelled in his duels, winning 100% of his ground battles and 80% of his aerial challenges. He completed all of his tackles (2/2) and registered three shots on target. Maguire also made seven clearances, five recoveries, and three blocks. He could have scored at least twice, but Ipswich’s goalkeeper, Alex Palmer, denied him in the first half.
Throughout the match, Maguire completed 46 passes and recorded 70 touches. The 31-year-old received a 7/10 rating from the Manchester Evening News for his performance, which we believe was on par with Fernandes. He effectively handled the challenge posed by Liam Delap.
Maguire had a difficult outing in the previous match against Everton, where he was criticized for failing to clear the ball, allowing Abdoulaye Doucouré to score. However, he redeemed himself against Ipswich. Under head coach Ruben Amorim, Maguire has become a fan favorite. If he maintains this level of performance in the coming months, it wouldn’t be surprising if the club begins discussions on a new contract.
