Gary Neville played with Charlatans lead vocalist Tim Burgess earlier today, marking his first appearance as a DJ.
At the Cumbrian Kendal Calling event, they collaborated.
The big acts at Kendal Calling this week have been Paolo Nutini, Sugababes, The Streets, and Noel Gallager’s High Flying Birds.
One of the musicians is Neville, a former Manchester United fullback.
He became accustomed to performing in front of almost 70,000 people every other week at the Theatre of Dreams.
But earlier today, he had to confront a much more terrifying prospect in a tent that was already packed.
While “Not Nineteen Forever” by The Courteeners played, watch Neville hit a beach ball into the packed throng.
Because he enjoyed what he was doing, he appeared to jig on the spot.
Earlier this year, Neville declared that he had never worked as a DJ.
He stated the following on Football, Music, and Me, hosted by Geoff Shreeves: “I did many things to step outside of my comfort zone after my football career ended.”What the hell am I doing, really? Tim and I are DJing at Kendal Calling.
“Once I say yes to something, I can’t get out of it, no matter how hard I try.”
“Never in my life!” he exclaimed when asked if he had ever done such a thing.
“I’m really looking forward to DJing with Gary; he has great taste in music,” Burgess said earlier this year to reassure his pal.
“He played guitar with the Charlatans the last time we were on stage together.”
“We might have an unplanned sing-along at some point, but I can’t guarantee we’ll be performing any songs together.”
