Later this month, Toni Kroos will make his first appearance on the football field since declaring his retirement.
After helping Real Madrid win their 15th Champions League at Wembley, the midfielder had hoped to lead Germany to triumph in their home European Championship.
However, the eventual winners, Spain, eventually outperformed Kroos and his teammates, forcing the veteran to bid farewell to the sport he helped revolutionize.
Still, Kroos has been named the newest member of the ‘Icon League’ after only seven months.
All of the regular season’s match days are held at Castello in Dusseldorf, and the competition is made up of seven five-a-side squads that play short games.
There will be 13 match days in the new season, which starts on March 10. Numerous well-known German football players are participating and serving as captains of different teams.
These include former Bayern players David Alaba and Franck Ribery, ice hockey player Leon Draisaitl, pundit Wolff Fuss, and German national players Antonio Rudiger and Robert Andrich.
The league announced Kroos’ involvement with an Instagram image that featured him gazing at his recognizable Adidas boot and the words “One more dance.”
Kroos will be participating in the event for the second time. The 35-year-old played for the team “B2B United” in the league’s inaugural season. Who he will play for this time has not been disclosed.
