Following the promotion of the Bournemouth defender to Spain’s senior squad, REAL MADRID will intensify their efforts to sign Dean Huijsen this summer.
When Barcelona’s Inigo Martinez was injured, teenager Huijsen received his first call-up.
In the quarterfinals of the Nations League, Spain will play the Netherlands away on Thursday and Valencia at home on Sunday.
This season, the defending European champions have kept a careful eye on the Amsterdam-born center back’s development with Bournemouth.
Scouts will, however, use the next days to have a closer look at the player, who has had an incredible Premier League debut season.
Last summer, the 19-year-old Huijsen only cost Bournemouth £15 million from Juventus, an Italian team.
He has contributed significantly to the team’s outstanding season-long performance, which has propelled them from the Premier League to the verge of European qualification.
On December 5, he scored his first Premier League goal against Tottenham. Seventeen days later, he scored against Manchester United.
Huijsen is also being pursued by United in anticipation of a summer move.
After losing 2-1 to Brentford on Saturday, Bournemouth is currently in tenth in the league.
After leaving the Netherlands and moving to Marbella when he was five years old, the player decided to play for Spain.
Huijsen has seven U-21 appearances for Spain and played for Holland at the Under-16-19 level.
This Friday, he was scheduled to play for Spain’s U-21 team against the Czech Republic.
