Real Madrid defeated Real Sociedad in a thrilling comeback victory led by Jude Bellingham, securing Carlo Ancelotti’s team a spot in the Copa del Rey final.
Supporters praised the Three Lions star as the “English Zidane” after he stunned opponents with a spectacular display of brilliance.
However, Real nearly lost to a tenacious Sociedad team that was hungry to bounce back from their 1-0 loss in the first leg of the semi-final match.
As eager supporters witnessed Brazilian teenager Endrick receive a rare start at the expense of Kylian Mbappe, the Bernabeu was packed.
But thanks to Ander Barrenetxea, Sociedad, the visitors, got off to a great start in the sixteenth minute.
After Endrick made good on his start by scoring at the half, Real quickly tied the score for the evening and took the lead again overall.
And when Bellingham displayed a remarkable feat of brilliance, it appeared as though Los Blancos were coasting into the championship game.
After taking down a high ball and dinking it over an opponent, the midfielder displayed incredible technique.
One admirer said, “The English Zidane,” in awe.
“Stop that, Jude Bellingham,” said another.
“Bellingham again, who else?” one person added.
But Real’s luck ran out in the end.
David Alaba’s own goal in the 72nd minute put Sociedad ahead 2-1 that evening and 2-2 overall.
However, Mikel Oyarzabal’s goal eight minutes later gave his team a 3-2 overall advantage, making matters worse.
But Bellingham, an England star, wasn’t going to take it easy.
Moments later, he netting restored morale and rallied the troops.
The contest returned to level terms after the goal.
And when Aurelien Tchouameni’s goal in the 86th minute gave Real Madrid a 3-3 victory on the evening and a 4-3 lead overall, their excitement turned to joy.
However, Oyarzabal of Sociedad scored his second goal of the evening in the third minute of injury time, adding even more drama to the late game.
The game went into extra time after the final score was 4–4.
It didn’t seem like either team would score.
However, Real advanced to the final as 5-4 aggregate winners thanks to a spectacular strike from substitute Antonio Rudiger five minutes away from penalties.
They will now compete for the Copa del Rey trophy against either Barcelona or Atletico Madrid.
After a thrilling 4–4 thriller in the first leg, Real Madrid’s rivals will face off again in the semifinals on Wednesday.
