A minority stake in Swansea City, a Championship team, has been acquired by LUKA MODRIC.
The 39-year-old Real Madrid icon has reached an agreement to purchase stock in the Welsh team.
It is currently unknown how much he is spending on the Swans and how much the investment will cost.
However, he is not yet ready to hang up his boots, and the transfer will not affect his current playing career.
The Real Madrid team is currently considering whether to extend the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner’s contract, which expires this summer.
Modric will become a co-owner of Swansea alongside Jason Cohen, Brett Cravatt, Nigel Morris, and Andy Coleman.
The former Tottenham player stated, “This is an exciting opportunity,” after the news was confirmed. Swansea has a wonderful fan base, a strong sense of identity, and the drive to compete at the top level.
“I think I can contribute my experience to the club by playing at the highest level.
“My goal is to support the club’s growth in a positive way and to help to build an exciting future.”
“I am thrilled that Luka has joined us as a co-owner and investor,” Swans CEO Tom Gorringe continued. From the academy to the first squad, there isn’t a better role model in the game for our players.
“His encouragement of our goals and readiness to help us along the way will be crucial as we work to keep improving both on and off the field.
“During our discussions, he has shown his love for the team, his awareness of our performance, and his sincere desire to assist us in getting better.
“I am really looking forward to working with him more closely to drive us forward.”
After eight years in charge, Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan sold their 74.95 percent stake in the club, and it changed ownership in November.
When American billionaire Coleman took over the club, he made a “new era” guarantee.
He stated that his goal was to get Swansea back into the Premier League after they were relegated from the top division in 2018.
Coleman asserted that in order to increase revenue, they must be a “Championship club not doing Championship things”.
“My new partners inside Swansea City are just as dedicated as I am to helping every single day to get this club where it deserves to be,” he clarified.
“Hopefully, we will be able to connect with our fans on the other side of the aisle, win back their trust, and collaborate on this new beginning.
“Our goal is to create a long-lasting football team that mitigates many of the dangers associated with the dynamic nature of football’s economy.
We all want to return to the Premier League, but we want to do it the proper way so that we can maintain it if we do. “And of course, I’m a dreamer by nature.
“For my part, I am quite enthusiastic about what lies ahead for us. I’m eager to see where we end up.
With four games left in the season, Swansea is now eight points outside of the playoffs in 12th place in the Championship table.
After Luke Williams was fired in March, they are now without a permanent manager, with Alan Sheehan serving as interim manager.
With six Champions League and four La Liga trophies at Real Madrid, Modric is among the most decorated players of this century.
Additionally, the Croatian’s odd decision to invest in Swansea has left supporters perplexed.
According to one advocate, “This is extremely random.”
