Jude Bellingham’s contribution to Barcelona’s opening goal in their Copa del Rey triumph over Real Madrid has angered supporters.
On Saturday night, Carlo Ancelotti’s team lost 3-2 to its rivals, with Jules Kounde of Barcelona scored the game-winning goal in the 116th minute.
Los Blancos, who were eliminated from the Champions League only a week earlier and are still behind in the race for the La Liga, suffered their most recent setback.
After viewing fresh video, Madrid supporters have taken aim at Bellingham, who was sent off in the closing seconds of the game, which infuriated them.
The England international was seen handing the ball away on the half-way line in a video that went viral, and Barcelona midfielder Pedri intercepted his pass.
As his Spanish adversary swiftly passed the ball to a teammate, Bellingham remained for a time with his head on his hands rather than racing after it.
.
As the video goes on, we see Pedri sprint past the Madrid player, catch a teammate’s pass, and then slam the ball into the goal.
By the time the ball entered the goal, Bellingham was out of range and nowhere close to the Barcelona No. 8.
“Bellingham gives the ball away and spends his time standing still reacting, while Pedri makes a pass, runs by him, and scores,” was the caption for the photo.
After the final whistle, Bellingham was sent off for “approaching the referee aggressively” and requiring “team-mates to restrain him.”
The Englishman is seen yelling, “Everything 50/50 goes their way, everything 50/50,” in a video that has gone viral on social media.
Officiating that night left Madrid furious, and defender Antonio Rudiger shared his annoyance with Bellingham after the game.
In the closing moments of Chelsea’s 3-2 loss to fierce rivals Barcelona, the former defender lost his temper and was sent off after hurling an ice pack at Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea.
Ferland Mendy and a Madrid employee had to hold Rudiger, who had transferred to the Bernabeu in 2022, when the official came to dismiss him.
‘You’re a miscarriage’ and’son of a wh***’ are alleged to have been the defender’s insults directed at the referee.
Rudiger was sent off for “throwing an object from the technical area, which missed me,” according to the referee’s post-match report.
Rudiger has drawn a lot of criticism for his head loss, and he may now be subject to a lengthy 12-match suspension.
‘There’s definitely no explanation for my actions last night,’ Rudiger wrote after Madrid defeat. I really apologize for it.
We played a great game from the second half on. However, I was unable to assist my team after 111 minutes, and I made a mistake just before the final whistle.
“I apologize once more to everyone I disappointed last night, including the referee.”
