Real Madrid came from behind to beat Mallorca 2-1 with Jacobo Ramon scoring an injury-time winner to delay Barcelona’s title celebrations✨👏

For Real Madrid, it was a source of pride.

The chances of winning the Spanish league are slim. However, giving Barcelona the title ahead of schedule was the last thing it wanted to do.

And in order to accomplish its goal on Wednesday, it need a goal well into stoppage time.

Five minutes into injury time, Madrid came back to defeat Mallorca 2-1 and postpone Barcelona’s title celebrations thanks to a goal from Jacobo Ramón.

In order to prevent Barcelona from winning the league for the 28th time ahead of schedule, Madrid needed to win. With a victory over city rival Espanyol on Thursday, the Catalan team can still win the trophy and maintain their four-point lead.

Martin Valjent gave Mallorca the lead in the eleventh minute on Wednesday, and the lead remained until Kylian Mbappé equalized in the 68th after beating a couple of defenders.

Five minutes into injury time, Ramón scored the game-winning goal from inside the box to deny Barcelona the victory.

With 28 goals, three more than Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski, Mbappé is still in the running to be the league’s top scorer. In the final “clasico” of the season, Madrid lost to Barcelona on Sunday, with Mbappé scoring a hat trick as the Catalan team came back from behind to win 4-3, all but guaranteeing the title.

Madrid’s chances of winning the league again are slim. It needs to win its next two games and pray that Barcelona doesn’t pick up two points from its final three games.

Thibaut Courtois, the goalie for Real Madrid, stated, “We always have to fight to the end when we wear this shield.” “Even though there is still a big gap, we will keep fighting until it’s mathematically impossible.”

Madrid was outscored 16–7 in all four of their games against Barcelona this season. Barcelona won each “clasico” for the first time in a season where the rivals faced off in at least three games.

After taking up the Brazil position, Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was met by largely unimpressed fans at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Wednesday.

Some Madrid supporters chastised Ancelotti for talking with the five-time winners while the La Liga season was still in progress when he was named Brazil’s next coach on Monday.

When Ancelotti’s name was proclaimed over the loudspeakers at the Bernabeu prior to the game, there were no notable jeers or cheers. Instead, the majority of the crowd applauded and chanted his name with the announcer, as was customary at the stadium.

Prior to Wednesday’s game, Madrid had not made any announcements or reactions on its coach since Brazil’s announcement, and there were no farewell or congratulations messages for Ancelotti either.

When Ancelotti said, “There was nothing different,” “Every time I sit on the bench at the Bernabeu, it’s something special.”

A portion of the audience chanted Ancelotti’s name during the game.

After four largely fruitful years in his second spell with Madrid, which won the Champions championship and the Spanish championship the previous season, the 65-year-old Italian is departing. This season, the team just took home the UEFA Super Cup.

From 2013 to 2015, Ancelotti served as the team’s coach as well. Three UEFA Super Cups, two Spanish Super Cups, two Copa del Reys, three Champions Leagues, three Club World Cups, and two Spanish leagues were all won by Madrid with his assistance.

In the last round, Madrid will play Real Sociedad in their farewell match at the Bernabeu.

Ancelotti declared that he was not yet giving up on winning the league.

“In soccer anything can happen,” he stated.

After announcing his departure from Bayer Leverkusen, former Madrid player Xabi Alonso is largely expected to take over as coach. However, the Spanish team has not yet announced Ancelotti’s replacement.

Despite struggling early against Mallorca, Madrid, who are still missing a few regular starters due to injuries, produced multiple scoring opportunities throughout the game. Nearly 40 shots were on goal at the end.

Leganes lost against fifth-place Villarreal 3-0, bringing them closer to demotion in a narrow battle against relegation. Alaves, the first team now safe, is four points ahead of the team owned by former Houston Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow, which remained in 18th position.

Alaves’ 1-0 victory over Valencia at home put them ahead of Leganes, one of the teams promoted the previous season. Eleventh place went to Valencia.
