A day after scoring two goals for Real Madrid in their season-ending matchup with Real Sociedad, Kylian Mbappe took off for Monaco for Sunday’s Grand Prix.
The French superstar helped his team win 2-0 on Saturday by scoring goals 30 and 31 in La Liga. Shortly after 5 p.m. (UK time), the game was over.
.
Mbappe arrived in Monte Carlo around twenty hours later, accompanied by Thibaut Courtois, a teammate from Real Madrid.
Prior to his historic £166 million transfer to PSG, Mbappe started his professional club career in 2015 with Monaco. Then, as a free agent, the forward moved to La Liga last summer.
Jules Kounde, a defender for Barcelona, and Mike Maignan, the goalie for AC Milan, both came from France.
.
Due to a hamstring injury, Kounde has been sidelined since the end of April. He will not play in Barcelona’s season-ending match against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
In contrast, Maignan played for Milan against Monza in their season-ending match.
With barely 16 hours to fly from Milan to Monaco for lights out, the goalie maintained a clean sheet in the 2-0 victory at the San Siro, which ended at around 10 p.m. UK time.
Jamal Musiala, a 22-year-old wonderkid for Bayern Munich, also received a pitlane pass for the main race in Formula One.
Even though the Bundesliga season concluded last week, the midfielder hasn’t played for the German powerhouses since he strained his left hamstring at the beginning of April.
Kingsley Coman, Musiala’s teammate from Bayern, was not photographed at the race on Sunday but was present at qualifying on Saturday.
.
Red Bull’s garage was visited by former Manchester United captain Patrice Evra, who was spotted cuddling with team principal Christian Horner.
Evra, 43, was scheduled to make his mixed martial arts debut later this month, but the event has been rescheduled at a later time in a dramatic career change.
Lando Norris won his second race of the season in the Grand Prix on Sunday, crossing the finish line ahead of the field.
Oscar Piastri, the leader of the championship, finished last on the podium, followed by local youngster Charles Leclerc in second place.
The next two drivers to finish in the top five were Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.
While McLaren leads the constructors’ standings by 172 points over Mercedes, which did not record a point in Monaco, Norris is currently only three points behind Piastri in the drivers’ title.
Kimi Antonelli finished 18th, the last driver to finish the race, while George Russell finished P11.
